Autumn crafts from origami modules. Modular origami

Hi all. Today I want to upload a beautiful selection of modular origami crafts. To help folk craftsmen with modular origami - both for mothers who want to please their children, and for leaders of children's creativity clubs. I must honestly admit that I myself am not keen on this modular design - this requires a separate time in the day, and with two jobs this is hardly possible. But I am fascinated by voluminous paper crafts. And so in this article I want to help you find NEW IDEAS for your next modular project.

If you are new to this article, then I will give you a diagram for assembling a paper module and the principle of connecting the modules to each other (this will be a little lower in the same article).

So, for those who have thought about the question “What else could we make from modules?” We are starting a review of the cutest paper sculpture crafts.

Modular origami

CRAFTS from modules of the SAME COLOR.

Usually crafts are made from special colored office paper. It is denser, the module is STRONG, and holds its shape well. The paper is not glossy, rough, and does not slip out of the grooves.

Office colored paper for printing is sold in sets - one color per pack. For example, yellow - 100 or 200 sheets. You can cut them into squares and then make blank modules in the evenings. If you are a beginner master of modular origami, then you will not risk spending money on several packs of different colors at once. And so you start creating with one color of paper. Here's an idea for crafts with ONE COLOR modules. These are characters (giraffe, chicken, duckling, squirrel) of small size - just the kind that do not require very many modules. And that means you will QUICKLY get results and pleasure. You need to start small so as not to disgust yourself with an impossible task.

And the easiest way to start your experiments in modular origami is with simple WHITE crafts made from thin office paper. And for example, collect a lamb like this. For the horns you don’t need a lot of colored paper; the one contained in a regular school set will suffice.

How to calculate the number of modules for a craft based on its photo . Let's take the example of this lamb. We count the number of modules visible in the photo. And multiply by three. And minus 15 percent of the resulting amount. This will be the approximate number of blanks for the craft. Check it out and write in the comments whether this formula works in your case.

Here is a pink paper craft - FLAMINGO. beautiful delicate bird made of paper modules. In our special article. You will also find examples of bird crafts using the same technique.

MODULAR ORIGAMI

PAPER CRAFTS IN TWO COLORS.

It is convenient to buy colored paper of the same color and plain white office paper. And then you can make crafts that will be zonally colored in contrasting zones (the white chest of a green frog, the white apron of a black penguin, the areas of the muzzle, ears and chest of a fox). Here's what you can do with modular origami.

Modular origami

Origami

DIFFERENT COLORS.

Underneath, when you have accumulated leftover paper of different colors, it will be convenient for you to divide bright multi-colored crafts. The brightest crafts are, of course, BIRDS. Feathers can be of different colors - the iridescence of plumage challenges our imagination.

Even a duck can be multi-colored - after all, its wings also shimmer in shades of gray, blue, green, and light blue.

Make a parrot - maybe small, maybe bigger.

Peacocks, firebirds and swans are GORGEOUS BIRDS with bushy tails.

For beginners, I don’t advise you to take on a bulky project - make a small swan first. Like this one. This will not require you to work for many hours - and you will get pleasure for a small contribution of work.

Modular origami crafts

CAT + MOUSE

I found a cute little cat craft. Based on a simple round assembly of modules, you can make this beautiful cat. Glue on ears, eyes, paws, nose and mustache - just like paper appliqués. And of course you need some colored paper for one circular row (in the middle of the layout) - to get a cat’s collar.

The mice are also a regular circular assembly, but at the end of the work we fill the central hole with a wad of pink paper - imitating a spout.

You can make the cat bigger. Or it will be a MOTHER CAT who will teach a BABY KITTEN to catch cunning white mice. Wow, and a fun game will begin here - there will be no time for cartoons.

DOGS AND DOGS

From modular origami.

Cute stupid puppies, loyal dogs, reliable fighting dogs - the dream of every child. If you can’t get a live dog yet, make a modular one from origami triangles.

The more tiny modules you use, the more smooth and solid the craft will seem - the smaller the module, the less roughness. And the toy will look like it’s alive. Now he wags his tail and rushes into your arms.

Modular origami

Crafts BUNNY and RABBIT.

If you have some pink paper left over, you can also make these cute bunnies with ears using the flat lay technique.

Here's a craft a bunny in a vest and a watch - a character from Alice in Wonderland. A very small and therefore quick craft to make. You might want to think about how to continue this series and try to sketch out a visual sketch in a draft Hatter(also mini size), Alice, Queen, round Tweedledum and Tweedledum. And of course the famous Blue Caterpillar smoking a hookah on the cap of a tall mushroom. And the main cutie of Wonderland - Cheshire cat.

Will you take it? Will you dare? I challenge your skillful hands and design brains. I really want to see Carroll characters in the comments to this article.

Oh God, my ears, my tail - how late I am. The Duchess will be furious.

SMALL CRAFTS

From modular origami

FOR BEGINNERS.

I specially publish here such small crafts - because it is miniature assemblies that have great charm. In modular origami, large crafts look bulky and clumsy (like large fur toys from Soviet childhood - heavy gargars). But small crafts look cuter (just like fur toys - the smaller they are, the cuter they are).

Therefore, do not aim at large projects. Choose small jewelry designs. Don’t make modular heffalumps - it no longer looks like art, but like clumsy, rough work. For some reason this is the effect. But this is for the best, there is no need to waste paper.

Here is a cute parrot and little tiny modules. Cute and cute.

And here is a hedgehog who dreams of becoming a butterfly. Look at its proportion in relation to the coin next to it.

And here is a tiny dinosaur with a flower on its neck. He believes so much in miracles, he strives so much to explore this world and find friends in it. Maybe he will meet a butterfly hedgehog and make friends with him. They have similar souls - childish, dreamy and open to new things.

Your children will be happy to play with such toys.

Here are the cute little ones. Kids in funny costumes. These little cuties will become your daughter's favorite dolls. They will have to create a whole world - cribs from modular origami, armchairs and tables.

TASTY CRAFTS

From modular origami

FOR BEGINNERS.

Easy-to-make crafts that are just SMALL SIZE are food products. Watermelon slices are easy to make. This is a straight linear flat assembly - row by row, like putting together a mosaic in kindergarten.

But round fruits are also collected simply in a circle, as in the usual patterns for beginners. Now we will show them below.

But paper cakes - a simple and easy craft from modular origami that you can do with your children in school creativity circles.

On top you can roll a cherry from a wad of paper napkin soaked in PVA glue - from such a soaked napkin we make a ball, dry it and paint it with gouache (spray it with hairspray on top to fix the gouache).

The cream can be two-layer, that is, two-color.

And to store all this beauty, you can assemble a shelf in several tiers. Although the shelf can be made from cardboard without using modules.

You can create any goodies from origami.

Assembly diagram

ORIGAMI MODULE.

Here is a diagram that shows how to fold the paper to get the correct module. The size of the leaf can be any, but the ratio of its sides should be 2X3.

That is, it could be leaves 4 by 6 cm, maybe 6 by 9 cm, or 8 by 12 cm, and so on.

The modules can be folded by placing them on the short side, or by placing them on the long side.

Below we see the modules lying on the short side - and 2 legs of two modules fit into the leg of the third module. According to this principle, they are attached to each other.

Depending on the method of adhesion, they give a different pattern of the canvas.

FLAT crafts

from modular origami.

To begin with, simple flat crafts will suit you; here you need to assemble everything like a mosaic - on one plane of the table. This could be a LADYBUG craft or a BUTTERFLY craft.

Craft FISH - assembly diagrams can be found on the Internet.

But here are some flat MANDALA crafts you can make with your own hands and hang on the window.

These are the beautiful ideas you can bring to life - with paper, patience and perseverance. Beauty is the work of human hands and inspiration from nature. Everything has already been created before us, look around, find what makes you feel beautiful and put it in paper modules.

Autumn is already on the doorstep and I want to somehow express this in creativity, so I propose to do autumn tree in technology origami. The craft will be unusual. We will use the classic “Superball” kusudama as the crown, and we will make the pot from modules. For the barrel you will need a paper tube.

The model is well suited as a craft for kindergarten and school. The Autumn Festival is approaching. Get ready for it with a beautiful tree in yellow and red tones.

Crown of an autumn tree – kusudama Superball

Let's start with the most interesting part. Let's make a flower kusudama from 40 identical modules. Each paper flower is assembled according to the instructions. I advise you to take several autumn shades at once: red, orange, yellow, beige, maybe even green. It all depends on your imagination.

Prepare leaves measuring 10x10 cm. Fold each one as follows:

  1. Mark vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines on the sheet.
  2. Fold "Double Square". How to do it is described in detail.

  3. Place the diamond in front of you so that the free ends are at the top. Fold one bottom side toward the center line. Iron the fold well and straighten it.
  4. The resulting section of paper must be flattened to form a triangle with the vertex looking down.
  5. Move one sector to the right and repeat the steps three more times. There should be 4 such triangles in total.

  6. Bend the upper sides of the formed quadrangle towards the center so that they are symmetrical. Point the sharp end down. Do three more of these steps with the remaining quadrangles. Constantly transfer sectors.

  7. A peculiar flower came out, but this is not what we need. Turn it inside out. To do this, unfold the sheet and assemble in reverse order along the marked lines. There should be no new folds.

  8. Now we have what we need. Make 39 more of these parts.

Assembling kusudama “Superball”

If all the parts are ready, it’s time to start making the crown for the autumn tree. Distribute the flowers into 10 pieces, placing them in a circle. Nearby there are details of different colors.

Take a needle and thread. String 10 pieces at a time, piercing the pointed base of the flower with a needle. After this, pull the parts together and tie the thread. The result is a colored circle. Do the same with the rest.

Prepare two ropes and place a cross in front of you. Cover them with one flower circle and thread the ends at the top and bottom through 2 pieces, and at the sides through 3 pieces.

Place the second circle on top. Pass the ends of the rope at the top and bottom through 3 modules. Left and right after 2. The third circle is put on in the same way as the first. The fourth one is like the second one. All the flowers ended up on the rope. Tie the opposite ends together, gently pulling them together to form a ball. Set the kusudama aside.

Pot made of modules for an autumn tree

We will make the pot from triangular modules. It's small and doesn't require a ton of assembly experience. Use a standard base. It is described in detail.

For a pot or vase you will need:

  • 80 brown modules;
  • 36 purple triangles;
  • 36 orange parts;
  • 12 yellow.

Assemble the base from 18 brown modules. In the diagram these are rows 1 and 2. Triangles are inserted with the short and long sides. The 3rd row is also made of 18 brown triangles.

Then add one purple piece every two brown ones. In the 5th row, alternate the other way around: 2 purple, 1 brown.

Next, use the orange modules as in the diagram. For now, you are positioning the triangles with long ends (letter D in the diagram). In the last row, the modules are put on with the short end outward. Alternate 2 yellow and 3 orange. Glue the modules of the last row to make the craft stronger.

Trunk

All that remains is to make a trunk for your autumn craft. Take a brown A4 sheet and form a tube out of it. Glue the edge of the paper to prevent it from falling apart.

Connect the trunk to the crown by gluing it at one end to the kusudama. It is better to do this where the threads are pulled together.

Trim the other end of the trunk, if necessary, to the desired length and glue it into the pot.

Autumn tree using origami technique is ready! You can decorate the craft with a maple leaf made of red or yellow paper. See how to make it.

I wish you warm autumn days and success in your creativity! Don't forget to subscribe for new articles!

In total, the bunny will require 522 triangular modules. You can take only white modules (office paper is best) or make 402 white and 120 color modules. The bunny sweater can be made in one color or striped. There are five rows in total (five stripes), each row has 24 modules. For this model we took 48 blue, 48 yellow and 24 blue modules. Take 48 white modules to assemble the first two rows. Arrange the three modules as shown in the figure. Insert the corners of the first two modules into the pockets of the third. The modules on the left are the first row, the ones on the right are the second.

  1. Take two more modules and connect them to the first ones in the same way. Collect all modules in a chain. Close the ring with the last module. It turned out to be two rows of 24 modules each.
  2. Complete the third row, putting on the modules in a checkerboard pattern.
  3. Carefully turn the circle out, turning it into something like a bowl. The first row then becomes a stand and is practically invisible from the side. Take 24 blue modules and complete the fourth row. Please note that the blue modules need to be strengthened a little higher, slightly moving the lower end. Then the sweater will move slightly away from the body.
  4. Complete the entire fourth row and align the modules.
  5. Do four more rows in the same way.
  6. Take 24 white modules and put them on the blue ones, turning the short side outward and the long side inward.
  7. This row should be narrower than the previous ones due to the fact that the white modules are turned on the other side and placed at the ends of the blue ones.
  8. The next row must be increased by 6 modules. To do this, put not one but two modules on every fourth module. The modules are turned with the long side outward.
Attention! The first two rows of the head have a rather unstable connection. The following rows will secure the entire structure, but these two rows must be assembled carefully and carefully.
  9. Now there will be 30 modules in each row. Continue collecting row after row. In total, the head consists of eight rows (one of 24 modules, the others of 30).
  10. In the last row, bring all the modules together, giving the head a rounded shape.
  11. For the ear, take 6 modules and strengthen them in the same way as in the first row of the head.
  12. In the second row, put on 5 modules, in the third - 6 again. Moreover, the outermost modules will be put on the outer corners of the first and second rows. Complete 7 rows in this way. In the eighth row it is necessary to make a narrowing. Put the two outer modules on the three outer ends of the previous row at once. There will be 5 modules in the eighth row. In the ninth, put on only 4 modules, and place the middle two above the others.
  13. Skip one module, i.e. leave 4 corners free, and do the second eyelet in the same way.
  14. Draw, cut out and glue the details: eyes, muzzle, arms, collar. Cut out the handles from rectangles of thick paper measuring 2x3 cm. Round the rectangles on one side, and on the other glue strips of paper of the same color as the clothes. Handles can simply be inserted between the modules or glued. You can cut a 4x8 cm rectangle with fringe, curl it and give the bunny a bang.

You can go for a walk and collect autumn leaves!

Origami on the theme Autumn

Master class: “Leaf fall”

Application: Work for an exhibition, interior decoration.

Dear friends, in childhood we all launched paper airplanes, made wallets, boats and steamboats out of paper, made caps and hats from newspapers. And only many years later they learned that paper folding is called a beautiful word - origami.

I've been looking at you for a long time with loving eyes

On ancient Japanese art,

Which is called Origami.

There is no need for wizards and magicians here,

There is nothing special here,

You just need to take a piece of paper

And try to put something together.

And I offer you a master class of work made using the modular origami technique - “Falling Leaves”.

Material: To work you will need colored paper in “autumn” shades, a ruler, a simple pencil, glue (glue stick), gouache, and a brush.

...Look! On dark fir trees in the undergrowth

Maple stars burn like pendants.

Bend over for the most beautiful leaf

In veins of crimson on gold.

Remember everything, how the earth falls asleep,

And the wind covers it with leaves.

And in the maple grove it is brighter and brighter.

More and more leaves are flying from the branches...” (V. Berestov)

Modular origami is a style of origami in which a whole figure (work) is assembled from separate parts - modules. There are many varieties of origami modules, both flat and three-dimensional.

1. In this work, the Trefoil module is used. From such modules you can make various mosaics, appliqués and three-dimensional products

2. To fold the module you will need a square piece of paper. Place it back side up. Bend diagonally and straighten. Fold the edges towards the middle

3. Fold the corner up and tuck it inside

4. Fold the side corners to the middle

5. Now the corners need to be tucked inside the workpiece. To do this, straighten the left corner, then straighten the entire left side of the workpiece

6. Fold the corner inward, fold the left side

Quilling "Autumn"

Autumn is probably the brightest time of the year, but even the colorful landscapes outside the window do not brighten up the autumn blues. Rainy, cloudy days and the sadness of the passing summer bring up sad thoughts, so it's time to do some handicrafts.

There are many interesting techniques for making various crafts, but quilling or simply paper rolling deserves special attention. The technique itself is quite simple to perform, so even beginners will find it quite easy to master. Its meaning is to twist special quilling paper into various shapes, with the help of which you can then create a variety of patterns and designs.

Using the quilling technique on the theme of autumn, you can create a wide variety of masterpieces: golden and crimson bouquets of flowers, tree branches, leaves or other objects reminiscent of autumn.

In addition, from individual elements created using the quilling technique, you can create real autumn pictures.

In this article we present to your attention a small master class in which we will show you how to make a beautiful autumn leaf using the quilling technique.

For creativity you will need:

Let's get started:

The resulting maple leaf can decorate any postcard or page, and can also be used as a separate element of various autumn crafts using the quilling technique.

Modular origami is a popular type of origami in which the product is assembled from several identical modules, folded according to the rules of classic origami. Such products do not fall apart, being held together by the frictional force that occurs when modules are stacked on top of each other. However, very often glue is used in work when it simply cannot be done without it.

Modular origami was first mentioned in a Japanese book in 1734. It came to the masses only in the 60s of the last century. The most famous masters of modular origami are the Japanese Mitsunobu Sonobe and the American Robert Lang.

The modules can be used to fold both flat and three-dimensional products using paper of different colors. Working not only with volume, but also with color requires increased concentration and involves both hemispheres of the brain. Therefore, this will be an excellent educational activity for children. A very interesting object made using this technique is kusudama. Translated from Japanese it means medicine ball. Previously, it was used to treat the sick, putting medicinal herbs and flower petals inside. The Japanese believed that such a ball radiated positive energy and helped the patient recover. Kusudama can become an original interior decoration and a wonderful gift for your loved ones.

Modular origami is comparable to a construction set, from which you can put together various shapes of any complexity. The main thing is to learn how to fold modules, and from them you can assemble anything you want. Use your imagination, or take a look at the master classes in this section. Using the modular origami technique, swans of various sizes are often made, as well as peacocks, bunnies and other animals. You can even make candy bowls that will fully fulfill their function.

Modular origami has a positive effect on the development of a child. By folding the modules, children not only develop fine motor skills, but also become familiar with geometric concepts such as edges, angles, triangles, squares, etc.

Take a look into the magical world of origami and create your own unique compositions! This section contains our master classes and assembly diagrams for various products using this technique.

We have been living in Thailand for more than six months, and unfortunately there is no autumn, yellow maple leaves and everything that distinguishes this time of year from summer, for example... I remember how during our walks my son did nothing but run around with great pleasure and joy over fallen rustling leaves and jumped over huge leafy heaps (may the poor street cleaners who swept the roads forgive us...). The coming autumn in our distant Russia became an occasion for my son and me to learn how to make herbariums using the origami technique. In order not to forget that atmosphere and create a little of that autumn mood at home, we set about paper creativity. And for you, I have collected several origami patterns on an autumn theme.
