How to make a costume for the cat Basilio and the fox Alice with your own hands. DIY fox costume What movie outfit would you wear to celebrate the holiday?

New Year's parties in kindergarten are cute and beautiful. But it’s also troublesome, because parents have to urgently come up with a costume for their child.

Well, if there is no strict dress code in kindergarten (all girls are snowflakes, all boys are bunnies, period), then you can dress the child up in anything, create any image. But don’t rush to rent a suit - everything is already scheduled there by the hour, and if you rent a suit for an hour, you’ll worry for a week. It is much easier to make a New Year's costume with your own hands. For example, you can sew a Fox costume for a girl with your own hands. How? Now we'll tell you.

In any case, choosing New Year's costumes for girls needs to be creative so that children will happily remember this holiday.

DIY fox costume. What kind of fox is there?

And the fox, as befits this animal by status, can be different. Flirty charm in a fluffy skirt, modern and fashionable in trousers and a stylish blouse, sweet and pretty in a sun skirt. But, whatever the image of a fox, there are always three main components: a costume, a mask (or ears) and a tail. Let's start with the costume.

Traditionally, a fox costume consists of a top and a bottom. So, to sew a Fox costume with your own hands, let’s consider several options. The top can be a regular blouse or blouse, often white. But you can find an orange or black turtleneck - this will also work. You can sew a cape to go with the blouse.

But the bottom needs to be sewn. The simplest option is a fluffy skirt made of organza stripes; you don’t even need to sew it. The option is more complicated, but still simple - a sun skirt made of faux fur, satin, or orange velvet. The most difficult option is trousers made of orange fabric.

DIY fox costume: how is it done?

So, the first option is a skirt made of organza stripes.

In order to calculate the required amount of fabric for the Chanterelle costume, you need the girl’s waist size, in cm - the waist size will be equal to the number of strips of fabric needed for the skirt. For example, a girl’s waist size is 30 cm, which means 30 stripes are needed. The width of each strip is 15 cm, the length is equal to two lengths of the skirt, plus 3 cm. Based on these figures, we calculate the required amount of fabric, with a standard roll width of 150 cm. Choose orange organza, you can combine it - buy orange and gold fabric, or orange and white, orange and black - depending on what your fox will be.

In addition to the fabric, you will need a wide elastic band for the waist. So, now we have everything, let's start making the skirt. Cut out the required number of strips from the fabric. We grind off the elastic to make a belt. Now we tie each strip of fabric with an elastic band - the knot is on the lower edge of the elastic, both ends of the strip of fabric are the same length. And so - with all the stripes. The end result should be a fluffy, beautiful skirt for the Fox costume.

Option two: circle skirt.

It's easy to sew. Fold a piece of fabric in half and measure the center. We lay out three radii from the center - two on the sides, one down. One radius is equal to 1/6 of the child's waist circumference. Now we connect all three segments in a semicircle.

From the semicircle we set aside three more radii, in the same way, but the length of the radius is now equal to the length of the skirt, plus 1 cm for the hem. And again we connect the radii, drawing a semicircle. The pattern is ready. We cut it out, trim the hem, sew in a belt - for this you will need bias tape of the appropriate color, sew it to the neckline of the skirt, and insert an elastic band inside. The skirt for the Chanterelle costume is ready.

Option three: trousers. More precisely, flared trousers. You can’t do without a pattern here, and it would be best to take your daughter’s old flared trousers, carefully rip them apart, and transfer the resulting details onto the fabric. Well, then cut and sew. In principle, nothing complicated, the main thing is to accurately translate the details.

Cape of a Chanterelle costume for a girl.

If you want to sew a cape, make a pattern. It is done in the same way as the circle skirt pattern, only you need to divide the pattern into three parts and cut out one third. Well, instead of an elastic band, sew on a tie or clasp.

DIY Fox costume: trim and details.

The best option is to trim the skirt/trousers, cape and blouse with fur, red or white. You can also decorate the Fox costume with tinsel or sequins. But beads, beads, etc. are not very appropriate in such a costume.

The skirt and trousers are trimmed at the bottom, just like the cape. The blouse/turtleneck is trimmed at the bottom of the sleeves, and if there is no cape, then at the collar.

What about the details? And the details are the ears/mask and tail. You can buy a ready-made mask, this is the easiest option. Ears can be sewn - for this you will need a regular plastic headband and a small piece of faux fur, orange, plus white or black fur. We cut out two triangles of the required size from orange fur, and smaller triangles from white/black fur. The orange triangles are the back of the ears. Now we sew the ears, trim the headband with fur, and sew the ears to it.

Tail for the Fox costume.

In principle, you can do without it, but if you decide that there will be a tail, the easiest option is to sew it from tulle or organza. You will need approximately 1.5 meters of orange and about 0.5 meters of white tulle/organza. We cut the fabric into strips 15-17 cm wide. We sew each strip along one edge and gather the stitching - we get a beautiful ruffle. We do not sew one orange strip, but fold it into a ribbon - this is the base of the tail. We sew our ruffles onto this base, starting from the tip of the “tail”. The tip of the tail is white, so we immediately sew on white ruffles, wrapping them around the strand and then stitching them. The result is a cute, fluffy and light fox tail.

You can also sew a tail from fur. To do this, two ovals are cut out of a piece of fur, the length of which is equal to the length of the tail, and then sewn together. The tail is preferably stuffed with padding polyester (it is the lightest), and white fur is sewn onto the tip of the tail. That's all, the tail for the Fox costume is ready.

Well, now you know how to make a Fox costume for a girl with your own hands. As you can see, there is nothing complicated, so get creative!

Another version of the fox costume

For the costume you will need:

  • a piece of orange fabric (fleece or felt) for the base of the suit;
  • a piece of white fabric for (breast and tip of tail);
  • rubber;
  • filler (sintepon, silicone, etc.)
  1. To pattern the base (sundress), you can use a girl’s dress as a template. We cut out according to the template and sew the side and shoulder seams.

2. Cut out the breast from white fabric. Cut along the contours and attach to the base.

3. For the tail, cut out two rounded blanks for the base from orange fabric, and cut out the tip of the fur from white fabric.

4. Sew and place the filling inside.

5. Ears for a fox costume can be made from a hoop. We cut out two triangles from white fabric and glue or sew them to the hoop.

You can also sew an original hat for a fox costume and a tail using very detailed patterns.

Surely every child and adult is familiar with these characters from the fairy tale about Pinocchio. Today we will tell you how to make costumes for Basilio and Alice the fox with your own hands!

Alice

This red-haired rogue's costume is easy to make even from old things. For it you will need a long skirt (preferably floor-length) in orange. If you don't have one, a dark checkered skirt will do. It’s not difficult to choose a top for Alice’s fox costume - you can take any light blouse or T-shirt (without inscriptions). Then you need to choose a vest or cardigan of a dark color. A sheepskin coat will also do. The cuffs and collar should be decorated with fur. If there is no fur, Alice's fox costume can be decorated with satin ribbons. They need to be carefully sewn on - in the form of ruffles or frills. The fabric, of course, should be bright orange!

For Alice's fox costume you will need a red carnival wig. It will be complemented by a cute hat - it’s good if it has feathers, flowers or fur. You can sew ribbons for tying. Complete the look with well-worn boots.

Cat Basilio

Alice simply needs a pair with the fox. It’s very simple to make: as a base, you can take black trousers and a dark turtleneck or shirt. As in the case of the red cheat, you should not wear new sneakers or boots. Of course, to complete the look you will need accessories. So, you need an old vest, which must first be covered with patches and fur. The more carelessly and chaotically it is done, the better! An old and tattered hat is ideal for Basilio. You can even cut fields in multiple places! In addition, you will need well-worn gloves and a neat bow tie.

And, of course, it is impossible to imagine this character without dark glasses! You need round black glasses that should be pushed to the tip of your nose. The final detail is a cardboard sign. On it you need to write the word “Blind” crookedly.

Both the costume of the fox Alice and the cat Basilio will need makeup - a painted mustache and nose. The images of famous characters are ready!

As they say, how you celebrate the New Year is how you will spend it. So, on the eve of the Year of the Horse, people are practically beating their hoofs to come up with something unusual and creative for a corporate event or a large friendly party. Thank God, now it’s not difficult to find a suitable costume for a masquerade.

The coat of that very fox Alice or the skin of Tarzan!

For example, you can surprise your colleagues and friends with recognizable outfits by contacting Belarusfilm - which is what we did. They got to the costume room almost immediately, or rather, to the costume warehouse, where you can find the jacket of the movie Stalin, the Snow Maiden’s dress or the outfit of Princess Anastasia Slutskaya.

Well, you know, we don’t provide military costumes, especially German ones from the Great Patriotic War, for such events,” says our guide, head of the filming preparation workshop Georgy Bataev. - And we’re unlikely to give away a rarity: for example, Pinocchio’s jacket.

But we were shown a long cape made of mesh and fur that Alice the fox wore in the same film. And also Anastasia Slutskaya, played by the famous actress Svetlana Zelenkovskaya. True, these things are one-piece, sewn for specific actors, so, of course, they don’t have a choice of sizes. For example, the beautiful olive dress in which Anastasia got married did not fit the Komsomolskaya Pravda correspondent at all - it would only suit a petite girl. By the way, costume designers admit that the outfits are made to fit inches; the average size of actresses is XS-S (size 38 - 40).

Wait, I’ll bring you a costume from “Nobleman Zavalnya” - it’s gorgeous!

Indeed, this is just a princess dress! Fits perfectly! You can also choose a hat, gloves and shoes.

In fact, the women's section is not the most interesting, although here you can dress up as a merchant's wife, a noblewoman, a princess, and the classic Snow Maiden. But we found real fantasy costumes in the men's dressing room.

Fur - like Davydko's or skin - like Sergei Glushko's

The men's and women's wardrobe at Belarusfilm is made in two tiers; you can climb up the large staircase. Dressers in warm sheepskin coats look after the clothes - the temperature in the room rarely rises above +10.

Unfortunately, moths still sometimes appear, no matter how carefully we look after our clothes, they say. - The temperature is low because it is an old huge room, there are drafts all around. But we are given warm clothes.

- So you would have wrapped yourself in a fox fur coat from the storerooms!

What, I’ve been working here for 20 years and, no matter how cold it is, I don’t wrap myself in things from filming,” the costume designer was even surprised at our question.

Well, we tried on - first a fox skin (weighs 10 - 12 kilograms, no less!) with tails, then - a boyar's velvet frock coat, then - the skin in which Sergei Glushko, aka Tarzan, was nursed in the film "Anastasia Slutskaya". By the way, the warmest was the rooster costume from the film “Honest, Red, in Love.”

Oh, my favorite childhood movie! - I squeaked.

With a wink, our guide takes out a small, shabby linen suit for us - the same Pinocchio suit!

This thing is unlikely to be given to a children's matinee - and it is clear that for Belarusfilm it is a real rarity.

Besides, not all things from corporate events are returned to us,” the costume designer sighs. - What didn’t happen: people forgot where they left their jackets and camisoles. Well, what will you do with them? There’s no point in dragging it to court... Therefore, to be honest, we rather give the suits to legal entities who take a dozen at once and are responsible for them. Most often actors come to us, but they also hire us for corporate events.

- Is it worth a lot of money?

Oh, what kind of money is there, a couple of hundred thousand rubles is the maximum. You will spend more energy on the paperwork that comes with it! And yet, right in front of us, several people put aside their hussar caftans for themselves. And there are shelves in the wardrobe where ironed clothes are neatly folded, signed with New Year's dates - waiting to be walked on a large skit.

A suit from a stylist is $10, and from a designer - 50.

Where else can you find outfits? Firstly, in a good costume shop, of which there are quite a few in Minsk.

For example, I not only select costumes, but also work as a stylist based on types,” says artist-stylist, owner of a private costume shop, Diana Slinko-Sigova. - Renting a suit for a day costs from $10 to infinity! On average, an outfit with all accessories and image detailing costs about $50. There is, of course, a lot of work on New Year's Eve - since December 20 there is just a list of filming, sometimes the costume works at one event in the morning, and at lunchtime and in the evening at the second and third (laughs). Dressing up is very popular among creative students, even at corporate events.

- Are there any popular topics for the latter?

Yes, such a dependence can be traced. For example, images in the style of the 20s, cabaret, well, you understand - in the style of “The Great Gatsby”, I worked with this style at the last “Listapad” - they decided to dress up the 20th anniversary in the style of the 20s. Lately they have preferred trash costumes and entire corporate parties of aliens, there is an addiction - corporate parties of aliens, and recently they organized a corporate party in the pin-up style - it turned out to be discreet erotica, with wigs, gloves, even eyelashes given to the girls for the image.

Well, I don’t even know where you found dresses from a costume shop for that kind of money, if it costs so much to rent just one pirate hat,” laughs the famous Belarusian designer Natalya Lyakhovets. - Yes, they often rent formal dresses from me, sometimes they ask me to sew something exclusive - in the theme of a corporate party or other holiday. It costs $50 to rent an exclusive evening outfit, and tailoring starts from $150, but you immediately know that you will get something exclusive, original and ideally suited to your figure. For example, I recently worked on a very interesting idea - a party with the theme “Alice in Wonderland”. Imagine my surprise when literally a month later they approached me with the same topic, and these people did not know each other - the ideas just coincided!

On the Internet, the first search produces hundreds of links - for $50 you can dress up as the Snow Maiden (classic and with various variations), a little more (about $80) - as a princess, Goldilocks, Snow White, and so on. Children's costumes are sold at prices starting from $15 - here are Superman, Batman, and bees and butterflies, a little more expensive - costumes of jesters with bells, bright Malvinas with blue hair and sad Pierrots. The original mask can be purchased for 5 - 6 dollars.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEM?

Jursky's vest costs only 20 dollars, and Vysotsky's frock coat costs a hundred greenbacks.

The Moscow “Mosfilm” has long been making money by renting out well-known practical legendary outfits - based on the number of filmings, they themselves are just right to be awarded the title of Honored and People's Artists. What is one fur coat of Ivan the Terrible worth from Leonid Gaidai’s film “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession”! By the way, she has the most expensive rental - in Belarusian money, about $160 per day of rental. Vladimir Vysotsky's frock coat (“The Tale of How Tsar Peter Married a Blackamoor”) will cost a hundred greenbacks, and the suit of Sergei Yursky (the hero of the film “Love and Doves”) costs only 20 dollars a day (this includes a cap). But, according to Mosfilm employees, the most popular among Muscovites is the school uniform of the Thaw era - with the obligatory pioneer tie.

By the way, for now costumes from Mosfilm are available only to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs.

The fox costume is one of the brightest and most recognizable among all New Year's children's outfits. It is universal in that it is equally suitable for both girls and boys. We offer two options for a DIY children's fox costume.

Carnival costume of a fox

For work we will prepare the following materials:

  • a piece of bright orange fleece or felt (for the base of the suit);
  • a piece of white fleece or felt (to imitate chanterelle fur);
  • rubber;
  • synthetic padding filler.

Now let's try to sew a fox costume.

How to make a fox costume for a boy?

You can make a costume without any special sewing skills. We will need an old orange T-shirt in a large size, a piece of white terry cloth (even a towel will do) and a plain raglan for an orange child.

  1. From a large T-shirt we will sew the lower part of the suit in the form of panties. Please note that there are no inscriptions or prints on your pattern.
  2. We fold them and apply them to the fabric: first we trace the front half, then the back.
  3. Sew the halves together, roll up the top edge and insert the elastic. Fold the bottom edge of the pants.
  4. Let's start making the top part of the fox costume with our own hands. We place our raglan on a piece of white terry cloth. First, we bend the edge, you should get something similar to a child’s bib. Trace the neckline and cut it out. Then we cut off the excess on the sides and bottom, and round off the cut part.
  5. We fix everything with pins and do the fitting. Then sew with a zigzag stitch.
  6. From the remains of a T-shirt and a white towel, cut out triangles and glue them together. We put cardboard inside for rigidity. Next, we simply glue these ears to the hoop.
  7. To make the tail, cut out a small sleeve from the remaining fabric, pointed at the end.
  8. From white terry we cut out the tip of the tail. It can either be sewn on or glued with a glue gun.
  9. Then we fill the blank with padding polyester or any other similar material and attach it to the pants.
  10. This is such a wonderful fox costume for the New Year made from old things!
