My first experience of knitting mittens, firstly, using the jacquard technique, and, secondly, I used to make a hole for my thumb by knitting the thread into the work. And now I was picking up air loops along the top.

Knitted with 1.5 knitting needles. Thread from the Trinity Worsted Factory, TAIGA classic, Siberia (300 m / 100 g), 100% merino wool. Two skeins will yield 3 pairs of similar mittens (two skeins means two colors). My knitting density is 40 loops per 10 cm.

Knitting is actually not difficult. To prevent the threads from getting tangled, I put one skein to my left, the other to my right, and monitor their change. Every 3 loops I secured a non-working thread. I knitted the first mitten for about a week and a half (naturally, taking into account other household chores), and knitted the second one in two days, since the pattern is already familiar. The size of these mittens is for a child 6-8 years old.

I have already started knitting another pattern, also Norwegian jacquard, also mittens, a slightly larger size.

So, description of work .

We cast on 51 loops with a white thread and knit with an elastic band 2 knits, 1 purl: 9 r. white, 2 p. orange, 4 rubles. white, 2 p. orange, 1 rub. white, 1 rub. orange, 1 rub. white, 2 p. orange, 4 rubles. white, 2 p. orange, 5 rub. white.

We begin to knit the pattern according to the diagram. Pay attention to the increase in loops in the area of the thumb. The diagram, in my opinion, shows very clearly that loops are added every 3 rows, immediately after the orange loop (and immediately before the last orange loop) one yarn over is added with white thread. Where there is an X on the diagram, you need to slip 13 loops (from orange to orange loops) onto a pin, and in the next row above these loops, cast on 13 loops. Here, a set of two colors presents some difficulty, but believe me, this is just a matter of practice. To suffer for 10 minutes longer, but then make a mark on your list of positive qualities - “I know how to cast air loops in two colors.”

Then we continue knitting according to the pattern. Deductions are made as follows. After knitting three border loops, two white loops are knitted, and the first of them is pulled through the second (as we close the loops when finishing the work). We do the same before the next border - as if we are closing one loop. We knit the mittens until there are 10 loops left on the knitting needles, then we pull both threads (white and orange) through all the loops and tighten.

Finger . We transfer 13 loops from a pin to a knitting needle, on another we cast on 13 loops of the top row, and also pick up one loop on each side (so that there are no holes). Distribute evenly. There are a total of 28 stitches on the knitting needles. We begin to knit according to the finger knitting pattern. Pay attention to the pattern match. The outermost orange stripes from the main mitten are like the inner parts of the border on the finger. This is also not difficult, you just need to take your time, and so that no one else bothers you at this time. We close the loops in the same way as in the main mitten, and when there are 8 loops left on the knitting needles, we pull both threads through them and tighten the knitting.

Turn the mitten inside out. If we crossed the thread every 3-4-5 loops, then the inside of the mitten looks very neat, the fingers do not catch on anything when putting it on. Using a hook, we pull the ends of the threads from the top of the mitten and the thumb inward, fasten them, and cut off the excess. We knit the second mitten in the same way, only we read the pattern according to the pattern not from left to right, but from right to left, i.e. in a mirror image. The finger is knitted in the same way.

Knit the next 10 stitches with a thread of a contrasting color, transfer these loops back to the right knitting needle and continue knitting rows 15-40 in a circle. From the 41st row, start knitting the toe of the mitten by decreasing as shown in the diagram = 10 sts. Cut the thread, pull the remaining loops with the end of the thread.

To knit a thumb, remove a thread of a contrasting color, transfer the stitches of the cut to the knitting needles + cast on an additional 2 sts on the sides = 24 sts. Evenly distribute the loops on 3 knitting needles and knit in the round. satin stitch alternately 1 stitch with white thread and 1 stitch with gray thread, shifting the pattern by 1 stitch in each row. At a piece height of 6 cm (or reaching the middle of the nail), begin knitting 2 stitches together at the end of each knitting needle. Perform such decreases in each row until 8 stitches remain on the needles.
Cut the thread, pull off the remaining loops with the end of the thread.
Left mitten: knit symmetrically. Lightly steam the finished mittens.

Mittens with Norwegian pattern

Perform such decreases in each row until 8 stitches remain on the knitting needles. Cut the thread, pull off the remaining loops with the end of the thread.

Left mitten: knit symmetrically.

Lightly steam the finished mittens.

Next, starting from the arrow A (B) C, knit between the edges with a jacquard pattern, while constantly repeating rapport 1. At the same time, add from the elastic for step bevels on both sides according to the pattern in every 6th row. 6 (7) 8 x 1 p. After 15 (18) 21 cm from the elastic, leave all the loops.

Left back and right front trouser details: knit the same way, but start the jacquard pattern with arrow D (B) E.

Rear end: transfer the loops of the left and right back parts of the trousers to one knitting needle and continue to knit with a jacquard pattern on all loops between the edge loops, while constantly repeating rapport 2 and in the 1st row. knit together the front two edges formed in the center of the work = 87 (97) 107 p. Front end: knit in the same way as the back part, but with a slit for the placket and a deeper neckline. To do this, after 19 (23) 27 cm from the elastic band, close the middle 5 sts and finish both sides separately. At the height of the back and in the same way along the outer edge, make armholes. At an armhole height of 7 (9) 11 cm, close the neckline along the inner edge with 1 x 5 (7) 9 p., then in every 2nd r. 1 x 2 p. and 1 x 1 p. and at the end in every 4th r. bind off 2 x 1 sts. Sleeves: cast on 38 (42) 46 stitches on the knitting needles with green thread for each sleeve and knit 2 cm with an elastic band, evenly adding 1 (3) 3 stitches in the last row. Next, knit with a jacquard pattern between the edges, starting at the arrow F (G) E, constantly repeating rapport 1. At the same time, add from the elastic band for bevels according to the pattern on both sides in every 4th r. 3 (4) 6 x 1 p., then in every 2nd p. 11 (13) 13 x 1 p. After 14 (17) 20 cm from the elastic band, knit another 6 cm straight, then directly bind off all the loops.

Assembly: Lightly moisten the parts, stretch them according to the dimensions indicated on the pattern, pin them onto the pattern and leave until dry. Sew shoulder seams. Sew the sleeves so that the middle of the sleeve coincides with the shoulder seam. Sew side seams, sleeve seams, and crotch seams. Crochet the edges of the cut for the strap with green thread 1 p. Close and cast on again in the next row. Close all loops. Sew the lower, short edges of the strips, placing the left one on the right. Crochet the neckline, including the short edges of the strips, with green thread 1 p. Art. b/n. Using a knitting needle, grab the back wall of each st. b/n, cast on 76 (84) 92 sts with green thread on circular knitting needles and knit 2 cm with an elastic band, while making another hole 1 cm along the left edge above all the button holes. Close all loops. Sew buttons. When finished, lightly steam all seams.

Hat with ears

Ears (2 parts): cast on 3 loops with green thread on the knitting needles for each ear and knit with a jacquard pattern between the edges, distributing the pattern, starting from the middle of the part, and in every 2nd r. add 4 x 1 p according to the pattern. After 11 r. leave all the loops.

Main part of the hat: cast on 29 (37) 37 stitches on circular knitting needles with green thread, knit 11 sts of the first ear, then cast on 29 (37) 37 loops with green thread and knit 11 sts of the second eye = 80 (96) 96 sts. Continue knitting in circular jacquard rows pattern, start from the 13th row of the jacquard pattern and distribute the pattern so that the middle of the jacquard pattern, indicated in the diagram, falls along the line of the middle of the front side. After 12 (17) 19 cm from the beginning of circular knitting, distribute the loops onto 4 stocking needles = 20 (24) 24 sts on each knitting needle and decrease as follows: 1 + 3 knitting needles: knit all loops except the last 2 sts, then knit the last 2 stitches together; 2 + 4 knitting needles: knit 2 stitches with a slant to the left (= slip 1 loop, knit 1 and pull the removed loop through it), then knit the remaining loops. Perform these decreases in each circle. until 4 stitches remain on the knitting needles. Tighten these loops tightly with a working thread.

Assembly: Crochet the entire bottom edge of the cap, including the ears, with green thread 1 circle. Art. b/n and 1 circle.r. “crawfish step” (= st. b/n knit in the direction from left to right). Mittens
