Liquid stones on nails - a design that imitates precious stones. Thanks to the use of special materials and techniques, nail design looks like real rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Making such a design at home is not easy, but if you practice, the result will surpass the salon one.

How did the design come about?

Gels

• protection gel without dispersion, which will not reflect light and will not affect the final appearance of the manicure;
• gel paint or black gel with a non-oil dispersion, which will be needed to complete the contours (the dispersion must be non-oil so that foil can be printed on it after polymerization);
• color art gel for French manicure;
• stained glass gel of the shade you want to make the stone;
• a sculptural thick gel that does not spread and can be used to add volume.

Brushes

• an angled brush, which you will need to make a French brush;
• a thin brush called a “hair” for drawing contours;
• A base brush that tapers to a point that you will use to apply most layers.

You can take several basic brushes if you will be making stones of two or more colors. This way you don't have to clean your brush of gel before applying each new color.

Foil

It is best to take a special tear-off foil for manicure. But if you don’t have it on hand, regular thin foil, for example, baking foil or chocolate foil, will do. Use gold or silver foil, depending on what kind of stone you will be making.

Drying lamp

It is needed to quickly dry the gel patterns and achieve complete hardening of the volumetric stone. You can use a standard UV lamp or a modern LED model. It will help you do a manicure even faster, since the gel in it dries and polymerizes 2 times faster.

How to make liquid stones on nails step by step? To repeat the design, follow the detailed instructions:

Basic manicure

Liquid stones on nails look best on a discreet base, for example, on a French manicure. If you don't want to do a French manicure, just paint your nails with a single-color polish or gel that matches the color of the stones. After applying a layer of gel, dry it in a lamp for 2 minutes. This is the standard drying time, dry for 120 seconds unless your materials or lamp indicate otherwise.

Protection

Apply protective gel without dispersion to the nail plates. Dry again for 2 minutes.

Circuit

It needs to be done with a black gel, which is convenient to apply with a thin “hair” brush. Liquid stones look most impressive when surrounded by a “metal frame,” that is, patterns. Therefore, draw an oval, circle or drop in the middle of the nail, depending on the shape of the stone you want to get. Draw ornaments around it that will imitate a metal frame. After applying the contour, dry the nail for 2 minutes.

Foil

The drawn black outline needs to be gilded or silvered using foil. To do this, you need to tear off a piece of foil, slightly larger than the size of your nail. Apply the matte side to the nail plate, gently press down, especially carefully along the black patterns. When you are sure that the foil has been printed, sharply tear it off in one motion. As a result, a silver or golden layer will remain on the black contours. After this stage, there is no need to dry your nails.

Colored gels

They need to be applied to the contours of the future stone. On gold and silver foil you need to apply two shades of gels - yellow and silver. It is important to work carefully with the brush and achieve smooth color transitions. This is very important, as it will allow you to create the volume of the stone in the future. After application, the nail must be dried again in the lamp.

Stained glass gel

It must be applied with the same “hair” brush in order to draw the smallest veins and structure of the stone. Here you will also need two colors. Their combination depends on what kind of stone you want to recreate. For example, to repeat the color of a ruby, you will need stained glass gels in black and red shades: the first for the substrate, the second for the top layer. To imitate an emerald, you need to make a yellow base and apply an azure-colored gel to it. To create a sapphire, azure gel and a silver substrate are used. After applying the stained glass gel, the nail needs to be dried again.

Volume

The thick sculpting gel should be applied with a base brush in several layers, giving the future stone a hemispherical shape. Each layer must be dried in a lamp for 2 minutes, depending on its thickness.

Volume protection

In order for liquid stones on nails and French to last long, you need to secure them with a top coat. To apply it, use a base brush, which is used to make gentle, gentle movements. The stone has already hardened sufficiently, but you should not press hard on it so as not to damage the shape. After applying the top, you need to dry your nails for the last time for 2-3 minutes in the lamp.

Liquid stones for gel polish

The liquid stone design can be repeated not only on the gel surface of the nails, but also on natural nails. It is best to coat them with gel polish, which will provide a fairly hard coating. Since its surface is smoother and slippery than that of gel, the place where the stone will be must first be sanded with a buff. Then the gel will not spread.
